Liability Coverage & Training Tools for Our Insureds' Protection

More than half of surveyed law firms in the United States experienced a data breach last year.* Chances are good that a lawyer you know has been scammed. They may not talk about it, but the statistics do. The threat of cyberattacks represents the most serious challenge for businesses. Lawyers are especially vulnerable because we keep so much PII and confidential data. As our digital touch points multiply, so do the threats to our clients’ personal and confidential information. AIM can help you protect yourself.
AIM’s Cyber Liability Insurance Coverage
As part of your standard malpractice insurance, AIM offers cyber liability coverage. We provide up to a $100,000 cyber liability limit with no deductible. But is that enough for your practice?
Only you can decide how much cybersecurity coverage you really need. This is especially true if you collect, store, host, process, control, use or share private or sensitive data. If you do real estate closings or wire large sums of money, pay special attention to getting the right amount of coverage.
If you ever need to report a cyber incident, you can expect us to preserve data where possible, investigate the scope of the cyberattack, minimize then isolate the affected environment, and establish a way for your work to continue. We provide an action plan for a secure and quick recovery.
AIM’s Cyber Risk Management Portal
As an AIM policyholder with our cybersecurity coverage, you and your law firm staff have free access to our Cyber Risk Management Portal from the Cyber Security page of the AIM website. Educational and training resources in the portal can help keep you vigilant against scam attempts and data breaches. The portal gives you the ability to complete employee risk assessments and receive scoring. You can even track completion for your staff. Your entire firm can participate in simulated phishing campaigns and track open and click rates of these campaigns. The portal also provides you with cybersecurity compliance forms that you can share with clients – proof your firm takes data security measures seriously.
Once you access the portal, you will register with your policyholder name, which should be your complete law firm name. Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive an activation email. Simply click the link in the email to verify your account and access the welcome screen. From there, click the "Start" button and follow the on-screen steps to set up your account.
When you are ready, you can always add staff emails or assign extra admin users at any time through the portal. These email addresses will receive invites for staff risk assessments/staff portal activation and will be sent phishing simulations. However, for employees to receive risk assessments or phishing, these modules must first be activated. The IP addresses for the phishing templates must also be whitelisted to prevent them from getting caught in spam filters.
If you have questions about AIM’s cyber coverage or accessing the cyber risk management portal for training and tools or for more information about potential higher limits, please contact Ben Parks, Vice President – Underwriting: ben@attorneysinsurancemutual.com.
