SonicWall, a cyber company that helps businesses manage their network security, recently reported that their portal had been attacked. Cybercriminals were able to bypass MFA credentials and gained access to several customer files that were stored in the cloud backups.

Companies whose employees use a laptop with a program to securely remote into the office server (SSL VPNs) are vulnerable. Fewer than 40 breach incidents were discovered, but if you use SonicWall, they suggest you take the following three precautions to secure your firewall:
Check if the cloud backup feature is enabled. If you use SonicWall, you should be able to login into your account. If your account was affected, you may see an informational banner on your screen.
Update firmware to version 7.3.0, which includes enhanced protections against brute force attacks and additional MFA controls. Review the firmware update guide found with update.
Reset all local user account passwords for any accounts with SSLVPN access, especially if they were carried over during the switch from Gen 6 to Gen 7.
When it concerns your law firm’s cybersecurity, always pay attention to the details on updates from Internet security providers – especially your firewall provider.
